ARTFUL INK TATTOO STUDIO
Artful by name and artful by nature, this project required the team to get crafty in more ways than one. Firstly, the design team worked closely with the owner to source and then install an eye-catching range of brass and gold finishing details such as door handles and light fittings. Offset against the black rooms with medievally inspired doors, the contemporary gothic vibe desired by the client was successfully accomplished.
Secondly, when you have jet black rooms, no matter how bling your accessories, the artists still need enough light to be able to work on their customers. The team tackled this problem by making the most of natural light with windows mounted on bespoke Ironwood frames and installing powerful electric lighting.
And before any of this happened, there was the problem of remodelling the studio to twice its original size whilst the business of tattooing continued unabated. We built a temporary hording to help facilitate this and keep noise as well as dust to a minimum. Additionally, all the materials needed to be transported to the second floor of the building which required substantial manpower and logistical cunning.
